In inglese americano, piano terra si dice invece first floor, cosicché il primo piano sarà second floor ecc. Si ricordi anche che si usa floor per indicare il singolo piano (abito al quinto piano = I live on the fifth floor) ma storey per indicare il numero dei piani di un edificio (un grattacielo di 55 piani = a 55-storey skyscraper).
