Focal areas of development are the design of components and systems with athermal properties made of low expansion materials such as ZERODUR, ULE glass or ceramics, as well as the vacuum-compliant design of systems for high vacuums to ultrahigh vacuums.
The modern assemblies and systems are typically brought to the demonstrator stage and analysed using special test bays with regard to optical, mechanical or thermal properties.

The comprehensively expandable Simatic IPC847D and the compact Simatic IPC647D from the robust rack PC device series for the 19-inch cabinet installation are used for fast processing of large volumes of data, for example, in instrumentation, on test bays, or in industrial image processing.
With its fast system response, supported by up-to-date PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.0 PC interface technology, the new Simatic IPCs supports challenging and complex automation applications, for example, where instrumentation and control tasks and visualization solutions have to be implemented concurrently in one device.
