On 24 June 2011, French authorities reported an E. coli outbreak in the region of Bordeaux.

Since the start of these outbreaks, there have been a large number of patients with bloody diarrhoea caused by STEC and an unusually high proportion of these have developed haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).

To date, the E. coli O104:H4 outbreak is responsible for 48 deaths in Germany and one in Sweden.

Am 24. Juni 2011 meldeten die französischen Behörden einen E. coli-Ausbruch in der Region um Bordeaux.

Seit Beginn dieser Ausbrüche kam es aufgrund von STEC bei einer großen Anzahl von Patienten zu blutigem Durchfall, und ein ungewöhnlich hoher Anteil dieser Patienten entwickelte ein hämolytisch-urämisches Syndrom (HUS).

Der Ausbruch von E. coli O104:H4 ist bislang für 48 Todesfälle in Deutschland und einen Todesfall in Schweden verantwortlich.
