Relevante Messgrößen sind Mittelwerte und Schwankungswerte der turbulenten Geschwindigkeiten, turbulente Korrelationen, Turbulenzgrade, Wirbelgrößenverteilungen und instationäre Effekte turbulenter Strömungen (Ungemischtheit, Intermittenz).
Zur simultanen Messung von Geschwindigkeit und Temperatur wird der Mehrfach-Hitzdrahtsonde ein weiterer Hitzdraht zugefügt, der als Widerstandsthermometer im Konstant-Strom-Modus (CCA) betrieben wird.
