For more than 70 years, the SLF has been responsible for issuing avalanche forecasts and warnings for the whole of Switzerland.

Am SLF werden für die Lawinenwarnung spezifische Werkzeuge zur räumlichen Datenvisualisierung und Analyse entwickelt.
Die Analysesoftware besteht aus mehreren Komponenten ( DAC, Aktuell + +, Gistools ) und ermöglicht einen raschen Zugriff auf die Schnee- und Wetterdaten, welche in der SLF-Datenbank erfasst sind.

Specialized spatial data visualization and analysis software is developed at the SLF to support the avalanche warning service.
These analysis tools consist of several software components ( DAC, Aktuell + +, Gistools ) to allow a quick access to the snow and weather data stored in the SLF database.
