Drei der Uhren stehen für fiktive Städte wie etwa Macondo oder Babel.
Statt wie üblicherweise auf Zahlen verweisen die Uhrzeiger auf Worte wie epiphany (Offenbarung), anxiety (Sorge), guilt (Schuld), fatigue (Erschöpfung) oder fear (Angst), das heißt auf komplexe emotionale Befindlichkeiten, die für alle Menschen, unabhängig von ihrer geografischen und zeitlichen Verortung, gleich sind.
Unterstützt wird die Wirkung der Installation durch das Erklingen von Herzschlägen und anderen vertrauten Geräuschen aus dem Kommunikationsalltag sowie durch ein Video, in dem das ausdruckslose Antlitz eines jungen Menschen zu sehen ist.

Instead of indicating the usual numbers, the clocks’ hands point to words such as epiphany, anxiety, guilt, fatigue, fear – words referring to complex emotional states of being that are the same for all regardless of geographic or temporal location.
The installation’s effect is reinforced by the sound of heartbeats, other familiar noises of everyday communication, and a video of the expressionless face of a young person.
