Die erste Kalibrierstation dieser Art wurde gemeinsam mit PTB und IMGC unter finanzieller Unterstützung der EG am National Physical Laboratory als COXI ( combined optical and x-ray interferometry for high precision dimensional metrology ) in Großbritannien aufgebaut.
Die fortschreitende Bearbeitungsgenauigkeit in der Fertigungstechnik zwingt die Messtechnik zu immer kleineren Messunsicherheiten - eine Aufgabe auch für die Röntgeninterferometrie, eine atomare Längenskale zu entwickeln.
Die Konstruktion dieser Interferometer aus Silizium wird durch Finite-Element - Simulationen ihrer mechanischen Eigenschaften unterstützt.

The advancing finishing accuracy in production engineering compels metrology to achieve ever smaller measurement uncertainties - a task also for X-ray interferometry, i.e. to develop an atomic length scale.
The construction of these silicon interferometers is supported by finite element simulations of their mechanical properties.
