DAS HAITHABU-SCHIFF
Im Jahre 1953 entdeckte ein Helmtaucher im ehemaligen Hafenbereich der mittelalterlichen Handelsstadt Haithabu das Wrack eines Wikingerschiffs;
erst 1979 konnte es im Sommer in einer großangelegten archäologischen Grabungskampagne geborgen werden.

In the year 1953 a deep-sea diver discovered the wreckage of a Viking ship in the former harbor area of the medieval trading city of Hedeby;
it wasn't until the summer of 1979 that it could be salvaged in the course of a large-scale archeological excavation campaign.
