Die ausgestellte Sammlung soll deutlich machen, wie sehr die österreichische Flotte zwischen militärischen Erfordernissen und dem Bemühen, Europa und der Welt ein bedeutendes Forschungsinstrument zur Verfügung zu stellen, angesiedelt war.
Neben den großartigen Galionsfiguren und Schiffsmodellen oder auch den einzigen erhalten gebliebenen Ballon - Abwurfbomben (System Uchatius), die 1849 bei der Belagerung Venedigs zum Einsatz kamen, finden sich in diesem Abschnitt Erinnerungsstücke an die meisten Flottenkommandanten und Darstellungen der österreichischen Flottenpräsenz.
Die Schiffe der österreichischen Kriegsmarine dienten nicht zuletzt dazu, Forschungsreisen durchzuführen, Mannschaften auszubilden und auf den Weltmeeren "Flagge" zu zeigen.

Besides the grand figureheads and ship models or else the only balloon bombs (system Uchatius), which were used during the siege of Venice in 1849, this section provides memorabilia of most naval commanders and depictions showing the presence of the Austrian Navy.
The ships of the Austrian Navy also served for expeditions as well as for the training of crews and the “showing of colours” across the oceans.
