Context After a failed coup attempt against President Gbagbo in 2002 , Côte d’Ivoire was geographically and politically divided , with government troops controlling the south of the country , and rebel groups the northern areas .
Starting at the end of 2007, demobilisation and disarmament took place in both regions of the country.

Ausgangssituation Einem fehlgeschlagenen Putschversuch im September 2002 gegen den Präsidenten Gbagbo folgte die geografische und politische Teilung des Landes in einen von den Regierungstruppen gehaltenen Süden und den von Rebellengruppen gehaltenen Norden.
Ende 2007 begann die Demobilisierung und die Entwaffnung in beiden Regionen des Landes.
