Am meisten kommt hier der Southern Right Whale vor , dessen Bestand in den vierziger Jahren unseres Jahrhunderts durch die Jagd fast ausgerottet war .
Der Name kommt daher, dass es sich bei dieser Gattung um die „richtigen“ Wale handelt, da sie viel Tran und Barten enthalten und nach dem Töten nicht untergehen, sondern auf der Wasseroberfläche schwimmen.

The most common whale here is the Southern Right Whale , whose population was nearly wiped out during forties .
The name derives from the whalers as they are the “right” whales to hunt, as they have a lot of blubber and baleen and they don’t sink after being killed but float on the water’s surface.
