Im Jahr 1582 hatte Papst Gregor die Faxen dicke und strich einfach zehn Tage aus dem Kalender, damit Kalender- und Sonnenjahr endlich wieder übereinstimmten.
Was zur lustigen Folge hatte, dass die Katholiken fortan den Protestanten, die diesen Kalenderstreich nicht mitmachen wollten, einige Tage im Jahr voraus waren.
