Nicht selten war der Rhetoriker, Philosoph und Schriftsteller dann auf Einladung des Goethe-Instituts unterwegs (wie hier im Jahr 1969 in Glasgow).
Was besonders gut passte; denn als ebenso überzeugter wie streitbarer Demokrat stand Jens in der jungen Republik, die sich noch zu finden hatte, für ein Deutschlandbild, wie es auch das Kulturinstitut stets zu transportieren suchte.
