Zum 25-jährigen Jubiläum der Band erschien im April dieses Jahres das Album „Essência“ mit grunderneuerter Besetzung um Magalhães klassische Gitarre.
Neben dem langjährigen Bandkollegen Carlos Maria Trindade (Synthesizer) liefern Jorge Varrecoso und António Figueiredo (Violinen), Luís Clode (Violoncello) und Beatriz Nunes (Gesang) Neuinterpretationen von Madredeus-Klassikern und schafften es damit in kürzester Zeit auf Platz 5 der portugiesischen Verkaufscharts.

In April this year, the album “Essência” was released to mark the group’s 25th anniversary, with a completely new formation built around Magalhãe’s classical guitar.
In addition to the long-standing band member Carlos Maria Trindade (synthesizer), Jorge Varrecoso and António Figueiredo (violins), Luís Clode (violoncello) and Beatriz Nunes (vocals) reinterpreted Madredeus classics and in doing so, rapidly climbed to number 5 in the Portuguese charts.
