www.transkulturelle-anglistik.uni-bayreuth.deDer innerste Spurdeteltor von ATLAS wird ein Halbleiter Pixeldetektor sein, der aus drei tonnenförmigen ( barrel ) Lagen um die Strahlachse und aus drei Scheiben ( disks ) in beiden Richtungen entlang der Strahlachse bestehte ( siehe unteres Bild ).
Die kleinsten mechanischen Einheiten sind Module von ungefähr 16mm × 60mm.
Der ganze Pixel Detektor wird aus etwa 1750 Modulen aufgebaut werden.

The smallest mechanical units of the pixel detector will be modules of about 16mm × 60mm.
The whole pixel detector will be built up of about 1750 modules.
