The museum displays typical ‘ living ensembles ’ ( hallway, living room, kitchen, bedroom, children ’ s and teenagers ’ rooms ), furnishings and fittings of shops ( food, hairdresser, stationery, clothing, amongst others ), gas station, office, doctor ’ s surgery, as well as the Bremen pub „ Zum Tuschkasten ”.
The tour begins with the living conditions of the immediate post-war era, characterized by „ Notbehelf ”, „ Kochkiste ” and hand-knitted bathing suit.
Topics of social history are documented in display cases, for example the orientation towards America, love of Venice and Paris, design, fashion, party and travel culture, sex roles, the bringing up of children, and many other subjects.

Der Rundgang beginnt mit den Lebensverhältnissen der unmittelbaren Nachkriegszeit, geprägt von „ Notbehelf ”, „ Kochkiste ” und selbstgestricktem Badeanzug.
In Vitrinen werden Themen der Sozialgeschichte dokumentiert, z.B. Amerika-Orientierung, Venedig- und Paris-Verliebtheit, Design-, Mode-, Party- und Reisekultur, Geschlechterrollen, Kindererziehung u.v.m.
