On this basis, the Council adopted, on 15 April 1958, Regulation No 1, determining the languages to be used in the European Economic Community, a regulation which has been amended with the various acts of accession.
Presently, there are 24 official and working languages of the EU institutions (see Section 7.2.1).

Auf dieser Grundlage erließ der Rat am 15. April 1958 die Verordnung Nr. 1 zur Regelung der Sprachenfrage für die Europäische Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft. Sie wurde mit den verschiedenen Beitrittsverträgen geändert.
Zurzeit gibt es 24 Amtssprachen und Arbeitssprachen der Organe der Europäischen Union (siehe 7.2.1).
