Mothers of minors with German citizenship A mother of a German child under eighteen years of age, who does not herself have German citizenship, may be able to receive a right of residence (Aufenthaltsrecht) if she has guardianship of the German child.
Such cases are normally due to bi-national partnerships in which the non German mother is a single parent or is divorced.
