Mit der melancholischen Kavatine aus Rachmaninows Oper Aleka, stimmgewaltig dargeboten von Anatoli Kotscherga, endete der russische Teil des Konzerts.
Der zweite Teil knüpft mit Beethovens Violin-Romanzen insofern an die Cavatina an, als auch diese zwischen Schönklang und Expressivität changierenden Stücke an Opernszenen erinnern.
Als Solist ist Kolja Blacher zu hören, von 1993 bis 1999 Erster Konzertmeister der Berliner Philharmoniker.
