Es soll einen Beitrag zur Verknüpfung von deutscher und japanischer Sportwissenschaft und praktischem Handeln im Sport in Deutschland und in Japan leisten, indem das Thema des Symposiums aus einer interkulturellen Perspektive betrachtet wird.
Gleichzeitig dient das Symposium als Auftaktveranstaltung der Kooperation zwischen der dvs und der JSPEHSS. dvs-Präsidentin Dorothee Alfermann und Prof. Tetsuro Yamanishi ( President Japan Society of Physical Education , Health and Sport Sciences ) unterzeichneten ein Kooperationsabkommen zwischen beiden Organisationen .
