Context The Selva Maya – a forested region shared by the countries of Belize, Guatemala and Mexico – is the largest tropical rainforest north of the Amazon Basin, teeming with extraordinary biodiversity in over twenty different ecosystems.
The Selva Maya is coming under major threats:
www.giz.deVon 2007 bis 2011 wurden mehr als 80.000 Lehrerinnen und Lehrer ausgebildet sowie 1,5 Million Schülerinnen und Schüler über AIDS aufgeklärt.
Aufgrund des großen Erfolges haben sich Bolivien, Guatemala und Kolumbien der Initiative angeschlossen.
Das Projekt wird seit 2011 außerdem in einem regionalen Netzwerk (CoPSexEd) weitergeführt, das die Kontinuität des fachlichen Austausches zwischen den Partnerländern auch in Zukunft gewährleisten soll.

Following the success of this project, Bolivia, Guatemala and Colombia have joined the initiative.
