Die Bildung der hochkoordinierten Komplexe erfolgt dabei in einer Redoxreaktion der GaCp*-Liganden und der Zn(II) Verbindung unter Freisetzung von Ga(III) Nebenprodukten.
Timo Bollermann und Kerstin Freitag gelang nun erstmals die Einführung von Zn-Zn Fragmenten in diese neue Verbindungsklasse.
